Lynne Volpi served as the WMC Coordinator for ten years, retiring in 2019. Prior to working for WMC, Lynne held geological positions for various companies including The Superior Oil Company Minerals Division (California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming); Goldfields Mining Corporation (Nevada, California); Barrick Gold Exploration (Nevada)’ and US Gold Corp., now McEwen Mining, (Nevada). She was the Publisher of Mining News Notes, a news-clipping service catering to the mining industry, for over ten years. Between geological jobs, she worked as a writing tutor at Great Basin College.
Lynne was the first female president of the Geological Society of Nevada (GSN) and has been a member for over 40 years, serving on the GSN Board of Directors as a member and as the chairman. She also served many years on the Elko County Library Board and on the Elko County Debt Management Commission.
Lynne earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada Reno and her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Nevada Reno. Lynne currently serves as the Secretary for the Women’s Mining Coalition.
