Cami Prenn graduated from the University of Nevada Reno with a B.S. in Business Administration. She co-founded Mine Development Associates, Inc. (MDA) in 1987 and served as its Principal Operations Officer until MDA was acquired by RESPEC in 2019. She retired after a transition period but remains active with WMC and other industry organizations. She comes to the mining industry by way of marriage, working with her Mining Engineer husband and the other mining engineers and geologists at MDA. Her real introduction to mining came with a move to the Big Smoky Valley in 1982. Nevada has been her home ever since and mining has been the industry in which she has chosen to work.
Cami has attended one Fly‐In and supported other industry professionals attending. She was impressed with the diversity, caliber, and professionalism of the women who joined the effort. Women’s Mining Coalition (WMC) is unique; Cami feels it is important to put a face on the industry so our legislators can see the real people in mining and consider how their actions affect those of us working in this industry.
Cami is WMC’s treasurer and has held that position since 2002. She is treasurer for the Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition and sat on the Board of the American Exploration and Mining Association for three years. She is currently Chair of the Board of the Geological Society of Nevada Foundation after serving as its treasurer for 15 years and sat on the Board of Directors of the Geological Society of Nevada for 20 years.
