Douglas B Silver

Mr. Silver has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont, a Master of Science degree in Economic Geology from the University of Arizona and was a certified general appraiser.  He has more than 30 years of experience as an active professional in the minerals industry, having served in a variety of capacities, including exploration geologist, business development specialist, mineral economist, and corporate executive.  

Mr. Silver has acknowledged expertise in  international mineral appraisals, management consulting and strategic planning research and previously served as a strategic advisor for more than 20 years to small and large mining companies through his private company, Balfour Holdings, Inc.  

He sits on several boards, including three at the University of Arizona where he is involved in the development of the Lowell Institute of Mineral Resources.  

Mr. Silver is the recipient of many industry awards, is a well-known keynote speaker and writes a column for Mining Engineering on Economics and Finance.  Since 2003, Mr. Silver has served as founder, Chairman and CEO of International Royalty Corporation, a global mineral royalty company which was sold in February 2010 for more than $740 million.
